Happy Birthday 2U

I have the hardest time with guy birthday cards. Is that a problem for you? Well earlier this year at Nicole Heady's blog they talked about getting organized with Birthday cards for the new year. I must say this is my best year ever with that. I have cards made through the middle of May. Can you even believe it? I combined a few challenges for this card, both from Stamp TV. Here is the sketch for STVSC3. I added the wood graining background with this as well, you can find that here STVTC4.

Here is my take.
I took the sketch and really got creative. I really wanted to see the wood grained background. If you have never done this before, head over to Stamp TV and check out Gina's instructions. It is fabulous! It is hard to see the stiching in the ribbon, but I decided to incorporate that throughout the card. I am still undecided about the background technique. It really takes a toll on your brown stamp pad and it remained wet for a long time. I do like the end result, so we will have to wait and see if this shows up on another card.

30 Hip Hip Horray!

This was for a challenge that I just finished up. It was to scrap yourself, use stamps and follow the sketch. Wow! I really don't have very many pictures of myself. I am going to work on this over the next year.
Here is my version, this picture was the night of my 30th birthday.
On the side I put the highlights in my first 30 years. I really couldn't figure out a title, so I left some space. I will add that later. Isn't that fun? The balloons at the bottom were stamped and they say hip hip horray. Those are all from GKD Melaine's sets Just so Hippy and Just so Hoppy! Love them!

Butterflies in da house!

I am in love with all of the Martha Stewart butterfly punches I have been seeing. I finally made it to Michaels and BAM I now have one. I have combined the Gina K Challenge #1 from her new release that said to use either spring colors or flowers. With Viva La Verve challenge for the second week of March. I love that they have these sketch with a twist challenges. It is just TOO MUCH FUN!!! Here is the sketch and the twist was use pink, red & green.

Here is my take.
Boy am I glad that I worked on this early today. As I said, it was a full day of work. I ended up on 2 listing appointments and one showing. I got one listing and wrote on the home that we saw today. Life is good!!! Needless to say my afternoon was all work and no play.
Back to business. I am loving basic background retro from PTI. It lets me make just about any color combo work. The swiss dot cuttlebug is also fabulous! I love the dimension and texture that is instantly added. I also cuttlebugged the paper before I punche my Martha butterflies. LOVE IT!!! I might be a posting champion tomorrow. I am going to be trying to get more entries made for the GKD and StampTV challenges. Yahoooo!!!
It's a good life!

Hey Big Winner LOL!

I am so excited to share some fun news. I WON some fabulously generous blog candy from Lori. She was celebrating 20,000 hits, can you believe it!!! Here is a fun pic from her blog of the goods. Isn't it yummy!

Now I must admit I am fairly new to blogging and I am quite ashambed to admit that when I announced about her generosity here I forgot to link it. What an idiot!!! Luckily for me she had that you could just leave a comment as well. So, the link to her bolg is above and she is one talented woman. Please go over and check out her fabulousness and give some congrats on 20,000 blog hits!

On a side note, I have been away at the National Hearts at Home conference the last two days, so there was no stamping done. With being gone, I have appointments all tomorrow. If all goes well, I will have some fun cards to share on Monday.

It's a good life!

One of those days!

Well I have definately had a "day". So there is a new baby in our neighborhood. I am really not in the neighborhood as I live on a big farm across the street, but I have no other neighbors so I have adoped them wether they like it or not, LOL. This cute cupple Kristy & Christian had a baby. There was a fun sign with a baby buggy and a big pink heart. The name was small, so from the road I deducted it was a girl and that her name was Claire. I then looked around and there was a really fun Color challenge from GKD StampTV. The challenge was to use red, pink & black. Red & Pink is not my normal pick for colors so I looked for some dsp and a sketch for inspiration. Love the Mojo Monday sketch #77, so I was off.

Here was my take using papertrey ink's punny valentine set. I don't get it out nearly enough. I LOVE animals, so this needs some more attention.
So I finish the card. When I am all done, I decide it really needs more black to stand out. I am out of time, so I went with it as I still liked it. So I get the meal made with dessert and all and head over to wish Claire a welcome to our neighborhood. I pull up and get a better look at the sign it is welcome Charlie. What??? Who puts a boy on a big pink heart? Okay I quickly take the card out and decided I will re-do it and mail them the card. Wowziers. Anyway, I watned to get this up. Needless to say I will be making another try at the Mojo Monday sketch and hopefully I will like it even more.

Just stars??

Hello everyone! I am on a mission to get some sympathy cards stored up for times of need. I used this sketch #106 from CPS. It definately got me thinking differently.

I choose to flip it so the main images were on the top. It also has some different colors brayed to try and imitate the swirls in the sketch, I think it is hard to see that detail.
I punched the starts out and used packing tape on the back of the punches so the sticky side was up. I then poured dazziling diamonds so the stars are really sparkly and fun. The stiching was something to try and tie it all in. I love this saying as well about stars, it makes me tear up thinking about those that have gone before us.
I am waiting for a Stampin Up order and a My Favorite Things order to come in. There are also really fun things happening at GKD and Papertrey Ink, so this week is going to be so much fun.
It's a good life!
