School Days

I can't wait to post until tomorrow, I am too excited. I was selected for one of the top 5 over at Lauren Meader's weekly challenge. Wahooo!!! Of course, that means I have to play again LOL! Well this week was a bit of a stumper for me. It was a template challenge (love those, that was not the hard part) and a back to school challenge. You can find the challenge here. Izzy is 2, so I don't have a little one going back to school. But my Mom is!!!!

I also combined the Stamp TV Potluck Friday challenge to use buttons and the PPA challenge to create anything but a card. I don't always have time to create things that aren't cards, but I was able to pull it all together for this one and I love the outcome!
Here is my creation

This is a fun close up

Here is a side shot. I love those cord brads from Stampin Up even though I have a hard time using them.
Isn't that stinking cute! I think my Mom will love it. She is a kindergarden teacher. She always puts a lamp and a few plants at her desk to make it more homey, so I did this little lunchbox template in some of her favorite colors. Inside I have a ton of little chocolates. My Mom is a tiny little thing, but she does like to have a little chocolate every now and again. I think it will come in handy during those stressful first few weeks. I am giving her this cuttie today when we have everyone over for the family diner.
It's a good life!

Under the wire

I just got my CPS card done! I finally got some time away from the fun week of Verve and made this beauty. I also got to participate in the Mytime challenge. This week it was a color combo, not my normal at all, but I like the end result.
The CPS sketch
Here is my card.
I must apologize about this horrible picture. My cousin works in the lighting field and she is on this challenge for me. Hopefully I will have better lit cards soon LOL! Did you see that Papertrey Ink is changing their ink type? I am pretty excited about this. If you can tell from the picture my plum pudding dosen't look anything like the dsp or paper color, so I will be excited when it is truely perfect match, LOL!

Onto the card. I really like the balloons in Everyday button bits, so when I can I try and use them LOL! Even if the images weren't my thing, the sentiments ROCK!!!! I love the ribbon and brad combo. Oh, I added the stiching on the card beacuse that main element washed out without some defination.

It's a good life!

Remembering

Hi everyone. I had an interesting Mother's Day today. One of the things I noticed is that I really need to get back to the gym!!!!

I have a closing tomorrow and it is a really neat widow who is selling the home she shared with her late husband. I have no idea how she is coping with everything, but she is. I was fortuante enough to win a free stamp set from Gina and Stamp TV. Can you even believe I had it in my hot little hands on Friday. It was such perfect timing as I got Not Forgotten and it is I think the perfect stamp set!

I have also combined a few challenges again LOL! I used the newest Card Positioning Systems sketch #115 and the My Time to Inspire MTTI01 Here is my take Isn't that fun! I loved how it all turned out. I used the Papertrey Ink dsp Black & White Basics dsp. Lauren showed how you can use copics to color in the flowers and although I don't have copics, I LOVED the look. I used my SU markers to make this happen. It looks great, but it really took some time to do. Okay not a ton of time, but those little leaves seemed to take forever LOL!

She is a scrapbooker, so I am sure she will like this. I have another card to finish up tonight, but it will not go up until tomorrow.

It's a good life!

Go out on a limb

I finally got a chance to use my There She Goes stamp set that I won called Branching Out. It is so much fun. I love the envelopes and the fun trendy image I used on my tree for today. As always I combined some challenges :) I am addicted to challenges. It is a ton of fun to create and then go back and see what everyone else comes up with using the same criteria.

So I finally was able to particiapte in my first My Time to Create challenge by Lauren Meader. You all know I adore her and now she is having different challenges every week. Isn't she stinking fun! I also had time to use the Card Positioning Systems #113 sketch. I also entered this into to Cardvarks challenge to create something with a tree.

Here is my take on the challenges
It has been raining here for what seems like years, so this is the best picture I could get. The other thing that was frustrating is that when I watercolored on watercolor paper my ink kept veering off the image. I was not happy about this. So for all of you watercolorers, what is the secret? I love the look, but I don't love how long it takes and then when it bleeds it makes me really cranky LOL! Any tips or tricks or websites that you know of that can help would be really appreciated.

I wasn't sure about this color combo, but after digging into it I really do like it. I am also in love with the new background set form Papertrey Ink called Background Basics: Dots and Spots. I am sure we will be seeing that one again! I love the zig zag shape of the main image and I also adore how it worked with the sketch perfectly.

On to the card, I adore the fun sentiment. Isn't that so true for many of us. Taking that first step, that leap of faith is hard and sometimes painful. There are times when you are in the thick of life that it is hard to see that the fruit is there and it will be there for us. I hope everyone has the best day and if you have sunshine where you are soak up some for me LOL!

It's a good life!
