Hey Chickadee

I am really excited about sharing this card with you. There are just certain cards that come together and make you smile when they are done. This was one of those cards for me. I used the color combo from PPA and the fun sketch from MMSC.
Here is the sketch
My card
Okay isn't this card a cutie LOL! I haven't created a lot of cards with the little chicks, but I really think they are cute. For some reason this color combo just called to the chicks for me. The pumpkin just begged to be the sun. There are little bits of bling for the eyes.
Izzy is restless, so I need to go and start the day.
It's a good life!

Remembering your husband

Well this has been my most creative day in my life LOL! I hope all of you got to create on the World Card Making Day. I have made more cards in one day than I have in my whole life, but it was stinking fun!!!! This was the first card I made this morning. I used the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge found here. This was combined with the Unity quote challenge found here .
Here is my card
My Aunt Wilma's anniversary was tomorrow and I wanted to send her a card this week letting her know I was thinking of her. There was lots of spounging and paper piercing on this fun card. It is super late, so I am going to cut the chatter down to a minimum LOL!
I have a ton of posts and pictures for tomorrow as well. I am going to try and space it out, but I wanted to warn you in advance.
It's a good life!

Saw it, Loved it, Bought it!!!

I am so excited to share this fun card with you today. I combined 2 great challenges. The first was a new to me challenge called Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge. They pick a movie to inspire your creations every week. This week it was picked out by Gina K and it was Pretty Woman and there was a paper piecing challenge. Isn't that fun?

This was combined with the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge you see below.
Here is the sketch
Here is my card
I am really digging how this card came out. It is hard to see, but I added score lines on the top and bottom for the details in the sketch. When I was thinking about pretty woman and looking through my stamps, I saw this fabulous Bella and thought of the fun scene where she is buying all of those clothes. It just made since for me.
Did you notice the copic work? I am taking a class and learning some more and practicing some more, so hopefully it will get better and better. I also made my lady a red head after dear Julia LOL! Don't you love how the ribbon hangs off as well. I have seen it all over and decided to give it a try. Not sure how it will work in an envelope, but oh what we do for fashion.
It's a good life!

Hoot, Hoot!

Don't forget about my two BIG Blog Candies found here.

Do you ever rediscover a fun set you haven't played with in a while. I kind of forgot about this cutie! I have two challenges that I combined for this card. The sketch is from Midnight Madness Sketch Challenges and the color combo is from the latest Stamp TV color combo.
Here is my card
Isn't that little guy cute? This is from PTI's set wise owl. I love how you can mix and match and create with all of these diffrent bellies. He is so much fun. I made this for Tim. He is the husband of Izzy's caregiver and he has a lot of patience. Izzy of course adores him and thinks he is wonderful.
Did you notice the fun homemade background dsp. I love guidelines 2 and that is another one I don't get out often enough. It seemed very stark, so I used a lot of spounging to soften the layers and make it look more like dsp.

One moment at a time

Well if I thought that last weeks sketch from Midnight Madness had a lot going on, it was nothing compared to this week. WOW am I pushed out of my comfort zone!!!!! I paired it with the color combo from SPCC, which I was not liking at all until I started playing. I am thinking she is now a geneous, LOL! Here are the challenges.

Here is the sketch - see what I mean about a lot going on LOL!
Here is my card
We had a funeral to go to this week. My cousin's husband passed away at 44. He left his wife and 2 high school girls behind. I made this card for the girls. There really isn't anything I can say, but I have decided I am going on a thinking of you campaign. Maybe some happy mail will help. Needless to say, there will be some lift you up cards on the blog for them from time to time.
Even though the sketch was complicated, I kept my version as simple as I could. I have used dmc floss for the weaving and medium vanilla brads from Stampin Up. I love the Papertrey stamp set With Sympathy. I really think it makes these situations a little easy to create for.

Sending sunshine your way

I am so excited that I was able to put together a caqrd for Dawn's color combo. It was a ton of fun and it was so nice to do a non Christmas card this morning. I love these colors. Dawn uses them a ton and she always makes them shine.
I did see this fun sketch challenge before I headed up to create. I really like the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge sketchesMidnight Madness Sketch Challenge sketches. My biggest challenge is that I like less on my cards and their sketches always have a lot going on. For me the challenge is to keep the sketch in mind while keeping my style in mind as well.
Here is my creation
Isn't that Scattered Showers additions stinking cute! I love how it works so well with the origional. I made this for the fun little girl Kate. I hope this will cheer up her parents. I will also be making her some cards along with her brother and sister. Izzy will be sending some love as well. I can't wait to get those done.
Do you love the embossed rain? I think it is such a neat touch and I am so glad it was seen on the card. The summer sunrise was the perfect touch as well. The inside says sending a little sunshine your way to chase the gloomies away. Isn't that so much fun.

Don't open til the 25th

Well it is going to be Christmas city around here in the next few days. I am not normally thinking about Christmas right now, but there are some fun challenges over at Moxie Fab World and I just can't resist.

I am also working on the sketch challenge for Midnight Madness challenges. Super fun!
Here is the sketch
My card
This challenge was for a vintage/shabby sheek card. I am really not quite a vintage kind of girl. I am more of a clean line stamping kind of girl, LOL but here I am. It was tons of fun trying different styles and having someone break them down. I did pick up some fun new things, like I am REALLY into bling right now.
I did tons of spounging and dsp layers. I stiched and lots of rumpling. When I am trying other styles I am really grateful that I have a full time job and I always think to myself don't quit your dayjob yet LOL!
This was a stampin up only card for the most part. I did add one PTI red button. Love the new dsp by the way. This collection has a really neat gold sheen and some really fun flocked dsp. I am always hesitant to crack into the specialty papers, but I am making myself cut into them this year.

Thinking of fall

Before I head into the card, I have to share yet another really neat thing I found while surfing last night. I found this neat altered tin at Can you pixel this? . There is a drawing to get your own. She had made hers for her daughter and it is stinking cute. Izzy will be 3 in September and she would think this is the greatest thing ever! Lets see if I have a little luck left LOL!

Onto my fun card. I combined a color combo and a sketch challenge. Both were a bit hard for me this week, but I really like the outcome. The color combo below is from Color Throwdow and the sketch is from Midhight Madness Sketch Challenge .
The sketch
My take on the card
Okay, I think the end worked out just fine, but it took me a few tries, LOL! My challenge with the sketch was all of the rectangles and keeping that with the color combo in mind. For some reason, I was in a more clean and simple look. I decided to frame in my rectangle pieces and then using my gel pen to create the box. I used the spounge to color the rectangles a little darker with soft suede ink.
One of the things I adore with the challenges is it forces me to use my in colors much quicker than I normally would. Color Throwdown has been so helpful with that! I adore soft suede now and I don't think I would have fallen in love with it until May like last year and those in colors. By that tie, I had no real time to enjoy the colors before they were gone. This has been great and I am sure it will be my best year with the new in colors yet.
The other thing that I creatively problem solved was the elements on each end of the card. In my latest papertrey ink package I got some jute in and I really didn't know what that was, but I don't think you can go wrong with Papertrey Ink, so I went for it. I love it!!! It is so much more supple than Stampin Up's hemp. It is really user friendly. Okay I put in some eyelets and then wound the jute through and up behind the center piece and knotted it. I really like how it ties those pieces in the sketch together. I also like how it worked with the color combo.
We are going as a family today to the zoo. Isn't that fun! Izzy loves the animals so this will be a wonderful day for us. Hope you are having fun as well.
It's a good life!

VERVE IN THE HOUSE!!!!

I am so excited to be writing this post today. The whole new month of Verve releases came yesterday and I was able to put together some cards today. I'm not sure if I was supposed to have cards out with the new goodies yet as I am not a Verve Diva, but I just couldn't put it down LOL! Hopefully I didn't break the law.

I have never been able to order an entire release that any company has, so it was AWESOME when the package came in. I just had to grab my camera and take a shot of all of them. Isn't that NEAT! I haven't used all of them, but I can tell you right now the ones I have are already on my fav list!
I combined the Color Throwdown challenge this week with the sketch from Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge. When I first saw these colors I thought no way would I be able to make a card with these. Well after I slept on it I and got the new Verve, I was ready to go.

Here is my card
I am LOVING this combo. Who would have known LOL! Well I had a lot of ideas swirling around when I saw the sketch. I really like the negative space left from using the top notes die. I paper pierced around the cut out, but it is hard to see in this picture. I also stamped Fifth Ave Floral in the background paper with black, melon mambo and crushed curry ink.

Okay I have had this butterfly die from Stampin Up for a while and I finlly broke it out. I still don't have it figured out, but I will keep at it. I really like how it turned out. Did you notice the fun design on the butterflies? That is all stamped with a new Verve stamp set called Bountiful Backgrounds. I LOVE IT!!!! The black was embossed with clear embossing powder. The mambo was stamped with snow white ink and the curry was stamped with curry ink. I really like how everything poped. The bling was a fun accent as well. Oh and the fun sentiment is from that same stamp set. You will be seeing this one a lot in the next few days. I can't seem to put it down.

The VERVE release is on the 14th! Believe me, you will want these beauties!

It's a good life!

Change

Well I am so excited about today's card. You might have read on a previous post, I just found a fun sketch challenge site. It is called Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge and I am so excited to be able to play along. I have combined this sketch challenge with a color challenge #54 from Color Throwdown . Here are the colors

The fun sketch for the week
My creation
A close up of the fun center element
I have a good friend from my Bible Study group who is going back to work after being home with her daughter for 7 years. She is such a doll and never complains, but I know this transition will be a challenge for her. I thought this quote from Verve would be perfect for Missie. I really like how it reminds us that God is the only one who sees the whole picture and he knows what he is doing. Really, is there anything neater than a butterfly :)

I really liked the blocked background that the sketch had and thought it would be neat to use the dsp and Martha Stewart butterfly punch together to make that happen. The circles are punched from the 1 1/4 circle punch. When I used puches on dsp sometimes it frays the edges a bit. My solution is to spounge some ink on the edges. For this card especially with the white background, it really gave the circles some dimension. I decided that less was more on my main block and went with the fun ribbon and butterfly accent. I really liked the little guy on the knot. It reminded me of how they are always pearched on all different places. I also stamped the main image on cardstock vellum so that we could still see glimpses of the butterfly dsp behind the sentiment.

I must admit the color challenge had me stumped for a bit! I rearely break out blush blossom and when I do it is usually to color skin on an image. The I read that the inspiration had come from the Basic Grey dsp pack Ambrosia and I was in like flint. If I used the dsp from there I had to hit all of th colors right LOL! I think it really came about nicely. I really think Missie will like this and hopefully it will brighten her day.

It's a good life!
