Beautiful You

Well, yesterday I had some HAPPY mail!!! I received my blooms from Paper Blooms that I won recently. Here is the picture of the goodies that arrived

If you think they look good on the screen it is nothing compared to how nice they are in person, you can get your own HERE!!! I would highly encourage checking them out. I had an idea in my head of what I wanted to do with them, but since they have arrived and I got to see them in person that has all changed LOL! My first thought was of my Grandma when I saw them. She just hosted Easter and she is really a neat woman. Izzy loves her very much and it is neat that she takes the time to do something special with her. So I went over to the Paper Blooms Blog and saw that they have a new challenge posted. What a great time to use my first pretty.

I knew after Easter that Grandma needed a card. My Grandfather passed away 3 1/2 years ago now. I also had the paper bloom challenge and the Verve release week sketches in mind. The hardest part was a title or sentiment that started with B.....until I thought of Beautiful you from Verve. Then it hit me. How many times does Grandma get called beautiful now a days? Not nearly as many times as when Grandpa was here that is for sure and what girl dosen't love to be told they are beautiful? Here is the sketch that can be found here.

This is my take on the two challenges.

What do you think? I am really liking it and I think my Grandma will love it. Some of the neat, but hard to see details are the paper piercing around the main image and the bling on the butterfly to match the center of the flower.

It's a good life!

Paper Blooms 1st Challenge

I am so excited for another opportunity to win some delicious blooms! They have their first sketch with a twist up here. I couldn't get the picture to save for the life of me, but the twist was to use purple, green, vanilla and/or white. Of course, I am a bad direction follower and I had to add a little yellow in the irises and also some faint blue around the flowers.

What do you think? I had a friend over last night and she wanted to know more about water coloring with stamps. I hadn't breaked out my water color crayons in such a long time it felt really good. Since all of the supplies were still out today, I had the best time with this image. I was also amazed at how fabulous her first try ended out. I really regret not snapping a picture for the blog. RATS! I will remember next time, LOL.

I found out a sweet lady from my church was in the hospital recently and I have to send her a card. The sentiment is really hard to read, but it says "For you my Friend". I had to piece the sentiment from the floral frenzy set and ended up hand writing my. I also stamped the background in white kraft as well. I love that crackle image and it really worked with this card. On the origional sketch they had a circle embelishement on the top left corner of the image. I decided to paper round it and I really liked the effect. I carried it out the whole top left corner. I really did like the effect. I think Mary will really like it.
