Butterflies

This card was made for Cammie's card drive found here. It is a wonderful card drive for those who care for patients of Alzheimers. I feel that nrusing is a very underappreciated carrier and if I can send a card and give a smile, that is fabulous for me!

For this card, I combined a few challenges the first is the sketch from the CAS blog. I love their sketches.
Here is the fun challenge from embellish magazine.
Here is my card
This is also for the stamp tv challenge to make your background and your main image from the same stamp set. As you all know I LOVE background stamps, so it was challengeing to find a set that I could use for a background and the main image as well. I used copic markers to color on the back side of the vellum.

Embellish clean and simple

I have been needing to craft lately. I think it is because the new baby will be here in a week and I need to keep busy. So I finally made some time to get the embellish challenge done. It has been too long, but I was really excited about using butterflies for some reason LOL!
I paired it with the Clean and Simple sketch. I'm not sure how clean and simple my card is, but it worked well with the sketch LOL!
Here is my card
Well after last night looking at all of the different ways to use felt, I just knew that I had to break into some of my other colors that I have been "saving" from PTI. It really is a nice product and it does add such a fun dimension to the card.
I found this dsp from SU in my stash. I am determined to use some of this fun product I keep collecting LOL! It was kraft and black, so perfect for this challenge. The butterflies are die cut with the top notes butterfly die and the sizzlets butterfly die as well. I liked the duo of butterflies.

Wish Big

2 posts in one day! Well I had some time at home today since my baby sitter had to cancel and Izzy took a fabulous nap, so I got a fun challenge in. It has been so long since I have participated in the embellish challenge that I knew that was the one for me. I also wanted to do the Stamp TV stars inspiration challenge. I knew just what would combine these challenges for me, my long neglected Star Prints set.
Here is my card
They had some bright colors, but I had a lot of fun thinking about how to put this card together. I started by creating my back pannel. I stamped the dots from polka dot basics 2 in champaigne versa mark. I like the subtle shine you get when using that product. I then wanted to add a flourish. I inked it up in chocolate chip ink and then stamped off once. The stars were stamped in the same versa mark chocolate and then embossed with clear embossing powder. I really like how it made the color pop. Lastly I added the sentiment, raspberry fizz ribbon and the faux stiching. Super fun!!!!
These colors were a bit of a challenge for me, but I really like and appreciate the end result. As I was changing my PTI order for the 100th time since the 15, I decided to really look at what I already had and think about what I was missing from my collection. I am bound and determined to break out the stamps I have and use them to their fullest rather than always needing new, new, new. Now I still spend around $100 mind you, so I didn't widdle too much, but I did feel better about hitting send LOL!
It's a good life!

Melaine's Blog Hop!!!

Well it is no surprise to anyone here that I adore Melaine's sets that can be found here at Gina K Designs. She is celebrating her second year blogaversary and 25 released sets. Not only can you win neat things found here at her blog, but you can also create a card using one of her stamp sets and join the hop as well. How fun is that?

I just got home late yesterday and do you think I unpacked, put away Christmas decorations or cleaned? NO, I just had to go and make a fun card for this great celebration. One of my new years resolutions is to keep up and blog my challenge cards. Too often I create them and then never get around to posting.

Since I had a lot of time at a hotel room Friday and Saturday due to a weather delay, I was able to check out quite a few challenge sites, needless to say I was swimming with inspiraiton. First I used the skech from JUGS. I really like this fun challenge site, but I haven't played as much as I would like. Then I saw this fun challenge from Embellish Magazine and thought it would work well with some of Mel's cuttie patottie animal sets.

Then when surfing, I ran into this fun card campaign for Winter. She is wanting to get a ton of cards for St. Judes. I really thought it was a fun idea, so I am going to be whipping up some more to send out.
Finally the card

Don't you think a little child would love this fun Valentines Day card? I have always loved the fun and playful animals that Melaine draws and this zebra is no exception. Hopefully there are more cuties headed our way LOL!

It's a good life!

Embellish Challenge

Here is the current emblish magazine challenge. I really like these, but I don't always get the time to create. Izzy helped me get this one together and we decided it would be for Keegan's birthday. That is in January LOL! We are really working ahead and it feels good!
Here is our card
Now I must say I wouldn't have ever used that lion, but Izzy thought it was wonderful. I really did like how everything came together at hte end. The brads are the eyes and nose and everything else is from the cosmo cricket Jack and Jill craft set. Love those fun papers and great stickers.

Happy Birthday

Well I am almost done with my Birthday cards needed for this year. Wahoooo!!!! I wanted to get done this month so that I could coast if needed through the holidays. I think I have one more card to do for this year and then I will be starting on my January group.

This is another of my cards that I made using the Verve sketch challenges and didn't get it up in time LOL! I also used the Embillish Magazine challenge here as well. Although I must say I like this card, but I don't feel I have nailed this challenge yet, so I am going to try it again soon.
Here is my card
It really turned out fun. What I don't love is the raspberry fizz element. I really would have liked to keep the gray. I really need to make another LOL! What I did love was the bling. It was a lot of fun to put in those different elements. This is either going to be for my Grandma or for my Aunt, I haven't decided yet.
It's a good life!

Hugs & Kisses

Welcome! I am so excited about world card making day. If you spend any time on my blog, you know that I adore making cards. Hopefully I will be spending most of my day today making tons of fun cards as well.
I made this card using Dawn's color combo found here
Here is my card
Isn't this fun! It is one of my favorite I have made recently. I can't say enough for challenges. If you are just starting making cards or if you have been making them for a while, I think challenges are great fun and they really expand your abilities. It has also helped me start to define who I am and what I really love.
On this card I used quite a few sets to pull this fun look together. I really like making clean lined cards that have a lot of fun elements. I wanted to make a fun notebook like theme here. I all Papertery Ink sets to get this look accomplished. I made the label with vintage labels and journaling lines.
I used heart prints for the sentiment and the fun heart. After many tires with the heart the embossing with clear embossing powder was the best effect. The added library clip with the jute bow really put the finishing touch on this main image.
Now when I went to put the card together, I knew the spiral punch would be the right fit on the lower right side, but I wasn't sure how to finish the base card up. It finally hit me with the polka dot basics 2 set. I really like how everything turned out.
It's a good life!

Baby It's cold outside

WAHOOOOO!!! Can you tell I am excited? Dawn's color combo challenge is back! Isn't that yummy. Okay enough of my gushing LOL! Izzy's babysitter is sick, so we are home and it is really fun to be able to get some fun crafty things done. Izzy loves to craft as well, so it is fun for both of us.
Here is my card
I wanted to give a close up of the fun mittens and snowy bling background
Okay I broke the law a little bit with the white, but I do have another one and it will have cream. It is getting colder here and although we are no where near snowflakes, I have had hot cocoa and that gets me thinking winter. I must also admit this card I made a few days ago and just haven't uploaded it yet, but hello it works great for this challenge and I really like how it turned out so hopefully it will be fine.
I stamped the white with the essentials glue pad and then put dazzling diamonds on it to create the sparkly snow. The mittens were paper pieced together to get all of the fun colors in. My daughter has her mittens hooked together like that, so I thought it would be such a cute little kids mitten look.

Love your rain or shine

Well I know I chatted yesterday about this fun new e-magazine called Embillish Magazine and how I actually submitted work, well here is one of those projects and the challenge.
Here is the project
I must admit I purchased jute from Papertrey Ink, but I had never used it much until this weekend LOL! It does add a neat element to the cards. This was one of the cards I created this weekend. I really like the polka dot umbrella. It is actually pretty simple and straight forward.
I am going to be working on getting my Viva La Verve cards done this week as well. I have two more to go for this month.
It's a good life!

Grateful Heart

I had to post again today. I found this fun new blog and soon to be new online magazine called Embellish Magazine. From what I can gather it will be an online publication. How fun is that. I really like that there will be hyper-links, so if you see something that you like one click and you can purchase. How fun is that?

I must say, I have never submitted a card for a magazine before. I have thought about it, but for some reason I just didn't think that I was anywhere near good enough. Well, part of what this magazine is going to do is challenges. Hello, I am the challenge queen, LOL! They had a publication challenge that I submitted for and then this fun one as well. I love the graphics they put together for the challenge also. Doesn't that make you want to craft. I also love that there is a twist with them. It really has me thinking, so much so that I have made 5 cards this weekend with these challenges. Here is the challenge
Here is my card
Didn't this turn out fun? When I saw the colors, I instantly thought of the Moxie Fab color gradient challenge as well. Super fun!!!!

Okay I did have a few fun discoveries as I played around with this card. First I was worried about how to make the cream work with the technique I wanted to try. The glossy paper is white. Well good news, the Papertrey Ink Vintage Cream worked fabuous to stamp on the glossy cardstock and then emboss with clear embossing powder. I do have vanilla embossing powder from Stampin Up, but it has never worked well for me, but this was FABULOUS!!!!

This background was achieved by heat embossing the polka dots with cream ink and then brayering ink over them to get this fun gradiation. Now onto my next not so much fun discovery. I first tried this with Paperty Trey ink colors and the orange zest in particular didn't work very well. (The orange zest is the new kind of ink from PTI) Now I must say I LOVE the new ink pads and I wouldn't want them to go back to the old style if you paid me, but they just don't work so well for this technique. Luckily I have all of my fun SU colors, so I did a quick substitution and fun card here we are.

I also did a lot of spounging on the main image to tie it in with the fun background paper I made. I love this saying as well and when combined with the colors, it really makes me think about Thanksgiving. I think this will be a fun card to send to some family members that live far away.

It's a good life!
